Ever since I had my own personal income, I have always given myself a special treat during my birthday. This year, I was faced with a dilemma whether to gift myself a piece of jewelry or a personalized pie dish from Red Envelope. Well, I decided to choose the latter since I already have so many accessories and hardly have time to wear all of them. Also, one of my resolutions this year is to whip up more gourmet meals and treats from our kitchen and what better way to do that than to use dishes with flair.
This Personalized Pie Dish from Red Envelope ($49.95) is made of high-quality ceramic with a shiny hand-glazed finish in red ombre, blue ombre, yellow ombre, or eggshell. I chose the one in Red Ombre to match the personalized casserole I gave my husband Jules. The pie dish has a fluted rim with a diameter of 10 1/2” and a depth of 2 ¼”.
Ceramic pie dishes heat evenly and produces beautiful pies. You’d have none of the sloppy soggy pies that sometimes come out of deep pie dishes. Ceramics are not only great conductors of heat but also retain the heat and give you perfectly baked crusts and fillings. I can’t wait to try making my own version of my fave Sbarro deep dish pizza and my husband’s fave apple pie!
Then, of course, this Red Envelope product is personalized so everyone will now that the pie came from my own kitchen. Now, I can proudly share with everyone Jade’s Famous Pie. 🙂 The inscription is not screen printed or embossed but carefully sandblasted to reveal the white ceramic beneath the glaze creating a wonderful contrast that makes the words stand out. I chose to have the script font instead of the block font to give my pie dish a touch of femininity. I find the etching a bit too small though and wished they were a bit bolder and more noticeable. Other than this, I am totally loving my new red pie dish.

I have seen this company reviewed but not ever anything as cool as this! My mom makes amazing pies, award winning even! She is 81 and still piebaking CrAzY! I’d love to gift her this. I like that it is sandblasted and not just painted on. Seems like it would not chip out this way. Hope you share lots of quiche and pie recipes soon!
