Enjoying Movie Time at Home

The glitz and glamor that came with the Oscars is slowly starting to wane but movie lovers all over the world are still talking about the big names that made it to this year’s Academy Awards winners.  One of our favorite actors Matthew McConaughey won Best Actor in Leading Role for the Dallas Buyers Club while Cate Blanchett won as Best Actress in a Leading Role for Blue Jasmine.  We missed both movies, but we’ve seen several of their flicks on HBO.  There are plenty of these movies available on Time Warner Cable.  Some of them can be available on demand, you simply have to choose your movies.  That’s a great way to enjoy movie time with the family without having to spend a lot of money – movie tickets, popcorn, snacks, and soda can add up to quite a lot of money.

Two movies that we enjoy watching over and over again is How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, which put McConaughey together with Kate Hudson in a funny yet romantic movie.  I must say McConaughey was truly charming in this movie – no one else could have played the role of the guy who’s out to prove that he can make any girl fall in love with him in 10 days.  Hudson was equally sexy and spunky, brimming with such ambition as she mustered all her feminine wiles to reel in McConaughey while trying to repel him at the same time.   This movie is not the lovey-dovey kind of romantic movie.  It shows you how you can fall in love and stay in love with a person despite all the quirks and pet peeves.

Blanchett’s Elizabeth is another timeless classic that has been shown over and over on cable television.  Her portrayal of the powerful monarch in this movie earned her her first Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role.  It’s a pity she did not get the Oscars that year, but she eventually received the coveted statue in 2004 as the Best Actress in a Supporting Role as Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator.

There are more movies like these at Time Warner triple play, with choice movie channels like HBO and Cinemax.  There are even movies for the kids – Ratatouile and Cars were on the playlist just last week.   Movie time is a great way to spend time together in a stay-at-home date or for family bonding.  Checking out the channel programming or requesting for movies on demand is the only thing you have to do to enjoy movies at home.  The hardest part of preparing for your movie date is switching your home popcorn maker on.
