When you have a teenager, it is quite difficult to plan a vacation that will not bore the teenager. To resolve your teen’s boredom, you can allow a friend to come along in your family vacation trip. It might be a tough decision for parents but you can ask your teenager to bring someone whom you are comfortable with and who has been your child’s friend for quite some time.
Aside from minimizing your teen’s boredom, this is also an opportunity for you to get to know your teen’s friends. If you want to take your teenager’s friend on your family vacation, here are some useful tips that will help you to be comfortable about it:
- Make sure that you meet with the parents of your teenager’s friend. Allow the parents to decide whether or not their teenager can come to your family vacation.
- Once the other teen’s parents agreed, then you can bring your child’s friend on family discussions regarding the plans of your family vacation. You can talk about the places that you will go and set rules on what is allowed to do and those which are not.
- Let it be clear with your teen’s friends as well as his/her family about the expected behaviour, funds, packing and other stuff regarding your vacation.
- Provide itinerary to the parents of the other teen and make sure that you exchange contact information so that they can get in touch with you in case of emergency and vice-versa.
