Top 5 Signs of Pregnancy

Women who dream of becoming mothers, especially if it’s for the first time sometimes have to be totally sure that they’re pregnant. This process might involve using a pregnancy test or two, paying a visit to the doctor or perhaps keeping an eye out for anything that seems unusual. However, there are a number of tell-tale signs of pregnancy which act a guide to determine whether a woman is indeed carrying a child. Here are the top five signs of pregnancy worth looking for regularly:

  1. Nausea and sickness. These are both incredibly common among pregnant women, and are often the hardest thing to cope with during the nine months prior to conception. If you’re having problems with it, it’s worth cutting out fatty and spicy foods, as they can sometimes exacerbate morning sickness. It’s also worth eating more carbohydrates and taking vitamin B6 tablets to improve your energy levels.
  2. Tender and swollen breasts. As you learn to cope with pregnancy week by week without realising it, you might begin to notice that your breasts have grown larger and are tender to the touch. This is perfectly normal, and is nothing to get worried about.
  3. Tiredness. Again, this is normal, and is caused by increasing pressure on your bones and joints which is down to the growth of the embryo. It’s important to try and get some rest, as this could help to alleviate fatigue without ending it completely.
  4. Cramping. This isn’t unusual at all, and is down to the growth of your baby. To try and reduce the amount of times that you get cramp, it’s important to take part in regular, gentle exercise and eat healthily.
  5. This one may sound strange, but many pregnant women find that the need to urinate more often. This can’t be stopped entirely, but it’s worth coping with, especially when you finally give birth to your new baby boy or girl.

If you’re not entirely sure about whether you’re pregnant, it’s worth looking out for all of these symptoms. Should you experience most or all of these, there’s a very strong likelihood that you are deep into pregnancy, but that’s not a bad thing, especially when you see the look on your new-born child’s face as they’re delivered by the midwife. Knowing for certain that you are carrying a child will help you to be prepared for when they’re born.
