When Illness Hits

It is unfortunate when illness hits the home front.  But, it is a reality that we all have to face.  No matter how much we boost our immune systems with healthy practices, there are times when strains of illnesses are just too strong to fight.  The common flu is one of the illnesses that usually hit people of all ages – it does not discriminate on age or on seasons.  This illness is characterized by fevers, coughs and colds, and general weakness.

When you feel the onset of flu or recognize the symptoms in your kids, you should not shrug it off.  You have to start pumping your body with fluids to flush the virus out.  It takes a couple of days to about a week to recover from a flu.  Having persistent high fever, especially in children, should warrant a visit to the pediatrician.

Do not push yourself too hard when illness hits.  It might just be a signal from your body telling you to slow down a bit.  Take a couple of days rest, drink plenty of water, and dose up on lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.  Don’t forget to fumigate and disinfect your home when you are strong enough to do so to get rid of any viruses and bacteria lingering in the air.
