While Kids are Out: Things That Mommies Can Do

Life should not be all about chores and housekeeping.  Although it seems like you have a million and one things to do, you would be surprised at how doing something for yourself during small pockets of time can perk you back up and get you going for the rest of your mommy duties.  As kids start schooling, you will have some amount of time to yourself.  Depending on how long your kids’ school day is, you can choose to spend your time in several ways:

  1. Relax – it is not a no-no to slow down a bit to catch up on your reading or perhaps have coffee with a friend you have not seen for a long time.  After the breakfast bowls have been washed and dried, slow down your pace for an hour or two to take a breather.  You can take a walk around the block, feed the birds from one of the park benches, or whatever activity calms and relaxes your mind and body.
  2. Learn – it is never too late to learn something.  You can check out available classes at your local college, trade center, or fitness club.  There are quite a number of adult classes for you to choose from:  dance and fitness, virtually every type of sport, foreign languages, culinary arts, and a long list of other options.
  3. Earn – you can convert the time on your hands into cash by opening a home business or taking a telecommuting job.  You can practice your sales savvy with both offline and online retailing.  Choose products that you are interested in and that you think you can successfully market.
