Everyday Brain Boosters

Feeding our children’s brains is just as important as feeding their bodies.  There are certain foods and activities that have been found and proven to help stimulate the mental development of children.  Even while they are at play, you can make sure that they are getting their dose of mental aerobics.  In fact, learning and boosting mental development need not be taxing and tedious for your little ones.

Making your children realize that learning is fun is the best way to prepare them for mental stimulation.  Games like “I Spy,” “Touch the Color,” and “Tell Me a Story” are fun learning activities that do not require any game boards or tokens to play.  You can play these games with your children wherever you are.  Take your cues from your kids to tell when they are getting bored and are ready to switch to another activity.

Be sure to give them the nutrition that they need in order to sustain not only their physical activities but also their mental activities as well.  Foods rich in vitamins and minerals as well as essential fatty acids are best for your children’s mental development.  Make sure they get at least five servings of fruits and vegetables along with a balanced diet that is rich in proteins from fish and healthy meats.
