On the Thanksgiving Table

There are about three weeks more to go before Thanksgiving.  It’s just the right time to think about what I am going to serve up this year.  The turkey, of course, is a mainstay on our Thanksgiving spread.  I have the family recipe that has been handed down from generation to generation.  I’m still toying with the idea of ordering takeaway food for the rest of our Thanksgiving feast.  It just takes too much time to prepare an entire spread of sidings and complementary dishes.  But, for someone who is budget-conscious, ordering is out of the question.

Toiling in the kitchen to prepare all the dishes is an expression of love and gratitude as well.  Having a lovingly prepared Thanksgiving meal sure beats store-bought dishes.  There are, however, some items that can make your food preparation much more convenient.  You can tweak your recipes with ready-to-use items from the grocery such as seasoned bread cubes for your stuffing and pre-baked pie crusts for your pumpkin pie.  These modern conveniences cut my preparation time to almost half and I can have our Thanksgiving dinner ready as easy as pumpkin pie.
