With the busy lives people live today, it is very easy to take quality family time for granted. That you are all home under one roof does not mean that you are spending quality time with the rest of the family. In some homes, every member of the family can all be in the same place but each preoccupied with his own activity: daddy can be on his laptop catching up on some unfinished work, mommy can be in the kitchen experimenting with a new recipe, and the little ones can be playing with their separate gaming consoles. But, really, there are better ways to spend time at home with the entire family.
Plan family activities during times when the entire family is home. Talk to your hubby about your plans and subtly tell him not to bring home work for that day. It might be more of a challenge to pry your kids away from their game boxes. Make sure that the activities that you plan are those that all family members enjoy. Some of the things you can do include: having a family barbeque in the yard, playing old-fashioned board games like Monopoly or Pictionary, and watching family flick picks in a movie marathon afternoon.
